WHAT I REALIZED THROUGH TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2011

モーターショー1.jpgIt is just starting to get really chilly. Today, they have snow in Sendai. It's freezing cold.

I am Kazuki Shima from Shima Company LTD.

I call myself "the most sensitive to cold in Tohoku area".

モーターショー.jpgThe other day, I went to see TOKYO Motor Show 2011 held at Tokyo Big Sight, which was at Makuhari Messe last year.

The way they display vehicles with vivid colors was totally different from other exhibitions I had ever seen.

Since it was my first experience, on the way back home I was overwhelmed with the vast amount of information I got from it.

モーターショー3.jpgSales staffs refined their manner, so they do not come to us to get our business cards (which have personal information).

They are first rate in so many aspects; how they use space of Tokyo Big Sight, their original system not to stop the flow of visitors (there are many exhibitions in China that give us little room to move. I should not compare... but there are ones like them in Japan, too.),

the level of "Campaign girls (who are there to assist the exhibition)", and their behavior even including their eyes

Not only Nissan is doing really well in Chinese Market, but also their presentation and display at the Show stood out from the crowds.

In my opinion, Japan's No.1 and No.2 automobile companies have been Toyota and Honda for a long time, and this will be the same for a while. However, now I think the day when Nissan beats those two leading car makers might come in the future.

The points made me think that Nissan is superior to other s are;

The president's commitment

Their global point of view and expansion cooperating with other makers

Indicating their intention toward electric automobile vehicles

Toyota's process of developing was extremely making sense.

モーターショー5.jpgDo you all remember?

12 years ago, Nissan had difficult managing status and they were about to go into bankruptcy. They tried almost everything including Renault-Nissan alliance and introducing new models.

Among others, the most significant strategy was Carlos Ghosn's becoming the president of Nissan. At that time, it was relatively shocking for Japanese to have a president from foreign countries.

Mr. Carlos Ghosn was called "Mr. Breaker". He orchestrates very aggressive downsizing campaign, which Japanese managers had been afraid to do it because of the guilt from being against social morality. Also, he thoroughly cut down expenses, and he got nickname of "Mr. Subcontractor Breaker"

When I think back, before this Nissan's gorgeous exhibition at TOKYO Motor Show, Nissan had to make
difficult decisions with heartless attitude 12 years ago, didn't they? Now everyone admits that their decisions were nothing but wise.

And, I also praise the Unknown who decided to have Mr.Ghosn as their president. We do not have good companies and bad companies in this world, but we only have good companies and bad managers.
I consider each single day precious, and I will work really hard.
